Bishop Mark Ashcroft
Mark became a Christian in his teens and is still amazed by God’s love for him today! He is married and is a father and grandfather. Mark and his wife are currently living in Marple, near Manchester, where he serves as a Honorary Assistant Bishop in Chester Diocese.
Since being ordained in 1982 Mark has served in a wide variety of contexts, including a theological college in Kenya, to a deprived part of Manchester where he served for 13 years before he retired in 2023 as a suffragan Bishop.
Mark longs to see the church renewed and for leaders to be equipped in the power of the Spirit. Believing that God is not finished with the Church and that God’s resurrection grace and power is still the same as it has always been.
Bringing with him gifts of love for people, encouragement, insight and an ability to see a bigger, strategic picture and taking joy in seeing others fulfil their God-given ministries.
Underpinned by prayer and dependance on the Holy Spirit the Alongside scheme is a wonderful way of walking with others in what can be a lonely and isolated ministry, Mark is looking forward to contributing to the Alongside scheme as a Companion and as part of the Supervision team, with his prayer for growing confidence and courage in communicating the good news of Jesus to those involved.
