Jolyon left his work as a barrister in 1987, to pursue a higher calling! He trained at Trinity College, Bristol and has led local churches and teams in Oxford, Guildford & Bath & Wells Dioceses for 30 year’s. He was married to Frances until her death from a brain tumour at the end of 2024 and most recently supported her as she served as Vicar of St Andrew’s, Oxshott, in Surrey. This is unique, but essentially a ‘little local and ordinary’ Church where he literally lived with the trials, pressures and opportunities of leading a Church through lock-down. His particular contributions have been with Mission Partnering, Thy Kingdom Come & Eco-Church.
He worked at the Anglican Communion Office in support of a nine year season of Intentional Discipleship: Jesus Shaped life (JSL). This expressed his passion for discipleship and he loved working in a variety of teams with like-minded, innovative, leaders from across the world, as well as here in the UK & Ireland.
Until recently Jolyon facilitated a global JSL Prayer Network and co-ordinated prayer for The Increase Association (Asia) and is a trustee of The Gold Project in the UK. Both organisations promote TEE as a model for training that equips and empowers all Christ’s followers for mission, ministry and leadership.
Jolyon and Frances’ children, Joshua and Abigail, are now in the 30s. Both are married and wonderfully active in their own christian faith and Church life, in Guildford and Durham respectively.
Jolyon is a keen runner (when not hampered by injury) and gardener as well as enjoying cooking and entertaining others, sometimes through gifting homemade marmalade or Sloe Gin. And is currently finding his way into ministry at Christchurch in Weston-Super-Mare, his local church.
