Caroline Friswell

Caroline joined the Supervisors’ Team in early 2024 with a background in counselling, counselling supervision and spiritual accompaniment as well as in academia, having been a part-time University lecturer in history from 1988-2013. She is married to Anthony and has 3 adult daughters, two of whom are married with children of their own.

Caroline was ordained in her late fifties, having trained at Cranmer Hall in Durham, and served her curacy in a New Wine inspired church near Gateshead.  In 2012 she became a House for Duty Priest in Charge of a small traditional Anglican church in a deprived, ex-mining community near Durham.  Despite retiring in the autumn of 2019 she now has PTO and leadS services in a variety of churches on a reasonably regular basis.

In addition to her involvement with ReSource since 2022 Caroline has also been Spiritual Director for Durham Anglican Cursillo (2020-2024) and is a Companion of the Northumbria Community.

Caroline was very involved with the New Wine leaders Network during her curacy and incumbency, and has long embraced charismatic renewal and been greatly influenced by Ignatian spirituality and now embraces contemplation and apostolic action in her life. Caroline brings with her a wealth of experience of church leadership, both the joys of challenges, including loving and fellowship on one hand and bullying on the other.
